A certified educational program for physicians, midlevel providers, and nurses practicing in obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, family medicine, radiology, and surgery.
Not only has breast density long been known to mask breast cancer on mammography, but breast density is an independent risk factor for the development of breast cancer. To date, more than half of the states in the US have passed legislation requiring patients be provided with some level of breast density information after undergoing mammography. The increasing awareness about the importance of breast density is necessitating new conversations between patients and their healthcare providers. This course will educate healthcare professionals about breast density, masking, risk of developing breast cancer, screening mammography/tomosynthesis, and how best to advise women regarding supplemental screening.
