New State Insurance Laws, State/Federal Initiatives
New Insurance Laws
Alabama and Wisconsin are the latest U.S. states to enact insurance laws for expanded no-cost breast imaging coverage. Based on DBI legislative analysis, there are now 39 states (plus DC) that have enacted laws for expanded coverage (Minnesota’s is for diagnostic imaging only). The laws vary from state to state, and some still include out-of-pocket costs. Visit DBI’s legislation MAP for details by state.

Efforts to expand insurance coverage for extra testing are active at state and federal levels. To learn more about how state insurance laws intersect with federal initiatives like the new HRSA guidelines and the Find It Early Act, read our new content on the legislation MAP page (located below the map).
