The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists have issued a Breast Density Position Statement, “Whilst a future risk-based model for breast cancer screening is being developed, RANZCR recommends mandating the reporting of breast density in both screening and diagnostic settings in Australia and New Zealand.”
National density reporting efforts elsewhere include:
- U.S.A. – The FDA’s national dense breast reporting requirement goes into effect September 10, 2024.
- Europe – The European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI) issued recommendations in 2022 that women be “informed” of breast density and supplemental screening considerations: Breast cancer screening in women with extremely dense breasts recommendations of the European Society of Breast Imaging
- Canada – According to DenseBreastsCanada, 8 provinces require density inform and 3 more are currently finalizing implementation (which will be 11 out of 12 Canadian jurisdictions).
