Illinois Insurance Laws Update
An Illinois insurance amendment, effective January 1, 2020, adds coverage of medically-necessary diagnostic mammograms to already existing required coverage of screening tests – all with no copay/deductible* to the patient. Illinois is one of 9 states (and the District of Columbia) mandating some level of insurance coverage for breast cancer screening beyond mammography and/or diagnostic imaging. See full details on the DB-i legislative map and table.
*A state insurance law does not necessarily apply to all policies within a state. Further, national insurance providers may be exempt from state laws.
