Es IMM recomendada para evaluar mujeres con senos densos?

Las Imagenes moleculares de mama (IMM) es un examen de imagen mamaria que utiliza una pequeña cantidad de material radiactivo. Este examen puede encontrar cánceres ocultos dentro del tejido mamario denso en una mamografía, pero por lo general no se recomienda para la detección del cáncer de mama porque la radiación de la IMM se dirige a todo el cuerpo. Esto no es como una mamografía, donde solo los senos reciben radiación (en una cantidad muy pequeña), y no como una ecografía o una resonancia magnética, donde no hay radiación ionizante en absoluto.

IMM no se usa en mujeres embarazadas.
